Children/Adolescence/Teen

We have a comprehensive center for children devoted explicitly to their therapeutic needs. Children respond in different ways. We work with approaches that are suited for children that help them explore, express themselves, and grow.

PLAY THERAPY and ART

Play therapy is designed for young children and uses different activities, such as painting, puppets, stories, and dioramas (a re-creation of situations which point to picture specific moments in time); this helps the child to communicate and establish a relationship with the therapist and resolve problems. Play and art therapy also allow the child to express emotions and issues that would be too difficult to discuss with another person.

SAND TRAY THERAPY

Sand tray therapy combines play therapy and art therapy. Children create their world with a tray or box filled with sand and use miniature toys to tell their stories. Toys may include anything from farm animals and dinosaurs to people and cars. The child can explain what is occurring in their inner world. These symbolic meanings can then be interpreted by the therapist to better understand their emotions, thoughts, and feelings.
